The Deebot N79S Robot hoover proves that you do not need to spend a lot of money to automate the cleaning of your home and not only that but you can expect a standard of cleaning that is on par with traditional vacuum cleaners.
This is a high performing low-cost robot vacuum cleaner will clean your home to a high standard and give you more time to do the things you really want to be doing.
The hardest thing when it comes to robot vacuum cleaners is to find a way to not only choose the right one for your needs but also to make sure you get one that actually works and at the right price.
We have researched and reviewed hundreds of robot vacuum cleaners and it is amazing how many cheap ones don’t really work and how many expensive ones fall way short of what they should be doing for the money compared to other much cheaper ones that do a lot better.
If you have been put off in the past by high prices and you have been sceptical that you can get one work at a price you can afford then now is the time to give one a try.
The last few years have seen huge advancements in technology that have made the component parts cheaper, making the robot hoovers smarter and more powerful and at the same time have made them cheaper.
You can still pay up to £1000 for a robot hoover if you really want to and if money is no object then you do get some slightly better performance with ever so slightly better suction and features on apps that allow multi-floor programming and high-end laser navigation that optimises cleaning time.
But if what you care about most is value for money then in our opinion you should forget spending anywhere near that amount because this robot cleaner will perform at 95% of the level of one that will set you back approaching £1000 but will cost you a fraction of the price.
Suction power is one of the most important factors when choosing a robot cleaner and the cheaper you go the poorer the suction power tends to become because the motor that creates the suction is one of the most expensive parts.
This Deebot N79S has two levels of suction power, Low and High Power. On high power it generates 12 cubic feet of suction power which is strong enough to pick up all of the dust dirt and debris found in all homes and is similar in suction power to a lot of robots that are much more expensive.
In tests it picked up everything on hard floor and carpet from fine dust particles to larger items like cereal pieces and it was very good on pet and human hair as well.
As with all robot vacuums, it has several brushes on the underside of the appliance that are commonly referred to as “edge cleaning brushes”.
Because the suction on the underside of the cleaner can’t get to the very edge of skirting boards, the brushes sweep right to the edge pushing any dust right on the edges into an area that then becomes accessible to the suction area on the underside of the cleaner.
The N79S does a particularly good job with this leaving no area untouched.
Battery life is excellent at 1 hour and 20 minutes on high power mode so you can just set it to high and leave it there forever because it is unlikely you will ever need to clean for more than that length of time on one charge before it returns to the base to recharge.
One of the differences between this price level of robot hoover and the more expensive ones is the navigation.
The Deebot N79S has random navigation compared to systematic and planned cleaning of specific areas but in reality, you don’t really need the more complex and expensive navigation.
Over the course of one charge (80 minutes) it will clean almost every part of the area you require cleaning anyway making the planned area cleaning navigation something you don’t really need especially if you are looking to keep the price down without compromising on performance.
There is an app you can download onto any smartphone and it simple, intuitive and easy to use.
With a few clicks, you can schedule cleaning days and times. We like the edge cleaning specific mode so you can set it to just clean all the edges in your home for an entire cleaning cycle to effectively do a deep clean of all the edges.
This is also one of the quietest robot cleaners out there so if you want it to clean while you are asleep it won’t disturb you.
It has a good-sized waste bin that won’t need emptying every clean, more like every 3 or 4 but it’s very simple to clip off, empty and replace.
The sensors are better than average so you will get less bumping into things than the average robot cleaner and it will return to the base to recharge once the battery is depleted.
This is an above-average robot vacuum cleaner with great suction that works well on both hard floor and carpet.
At this price, it can be considered a bargain for something that almost eliminates the need to vacuum your home – ever.
We say almost because on a day to day and even week to week level it is going to keep you home clean and tidy.
In our experience, you will need to go over some corners and certain areas with say wires that it can’t get to maybe once a month.
For a very low price compared to other robot vacuums, you can expect a high level of cleaning performance that reduces the need to do any hoovering at all to once a month.
If hoovering is a chore that you could do with crossing off your list and only having to think about 12 times a year but you don’t want to spend much money then this is one of the best options out there.
