What we really like about the Rug Doctor deep carpet cleaner is that it is made by a company that only does carpet cleaners.
They have been around since 1972 so any company that has been making carpet cleaners for that long must be doing something right otherwise they would be gone.
All other manufacturers of carpet cleaners do vacuum cleaners as well and Rug Doctor could have branched out into that market as well but they decided to put all their eggs in one basket and make sure that what they do, they do brilliantly.
This carpet cleaner digs right down into the bottom of the fibres of any carpet that hasn’t been cleaned for years and will remove dirt that you won’t believe existed.
You get used to seeing something day in day out and your regular hoover will remove dust and dirt that accumulates on a weekly basis but it can never remove everything.
Over months and years dirt will slowly build up and discolour the carpet until it gets to the point where only a proper deep wet clean will do the job.
The Rug Doctor is a proven winner over time and is recommended by many hundreds of happy customers.
In addition, The Rug Doctor deep carpet cleaner has been independently accessed by the rug and carpet institute and has been awarded a gold level for outstanding cleaning performance.
There are a number of key things that a carpet cleaner has to be able to do well to make it worth buying and this cleaner does them all really well.
How efficient is it in removing dirt. You’d be surprised at how many carpet cleaners actually don’t do a very good job of actually removing ingrained dirt and stains.
It’s not just about cleaning the regular dirt that a normal vacuum cleaner can’t remove, it’s about getting out specific stains such as pet mess, accidental spills like coffee or wine and more.
This carpet cleaner deals wth all of those and more.
How quickly does the carpet dry after cleaning. Many poor performing carpet cleaners can leave your carpet soaking wet after use and can leave the carpet with a musty smell afterwards if the suction power to lift the wet water out of the carpet is not strong enough.
To clean a carpet properly you have to pump water and detergent into the carpet fibres and distribute the water evenly and without saturating the carpet.
Rug Doctor understands the importance of this and has developed the technology over decades to ensure maximum cleaning power with minimal drying time.
Is there any colour change in the area you are cleaning. If you use the wrong detergent or if too much water is pumped into your carpet and left for too long you could end up with a slightly different shade than you started with.
The only colour change you will notice with a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner is a change back to the original colour of the carpet when it was new not something different and unexpected.
We will explain why it works so well and how to get the best out of it.
Importantly its really easy to use straight out of the box and you are literally ready to go in about 5 minutes.
There is almost no assembly required at all. The main unit is good to go once it’s out of the box and all you need to do is clip the part that holds cable onto the main body of the cleaner and the hose gets clipped on as well.
Literally that’s it, no screws or DIY skills required.
As is the case with most carpet cleaners there are two water tanks, one for the clean water to go into and one for the dirty water to get sucked into once your carpets have been cleaned.
The clean water tank has a fill line on it to make sure you don’t overfill it and the lid also doubles up as a measurer for the amount of detergent to use.
Fill up the tank with hot but not boiling water and then fill up the lid with the rug doctor detergent that is supplied and add it to the water tank and you are good to go.
Ease of use is very simple indeed. You get a switch with two buttons, “carpet” or “tool”.
Tool is for when you want to clean anything above floor level and carpet is for when you want to clean, you guessed it, carpet. Dead simple.
Once you turn it on the brush starts spinning and you are ready to clean. There are two more options once you get going.
You can press a “deep clean” button that basically adds more water and detergent to the carpet whilst its cleaning.
There is also a “super boost” spray button that adds more detergent to the surface of the area you are cleaning before the cleaning brushes get to it.
The proof is in the pudding and the dirty water tank is transparent for a reason. Once you put it into action you will quickly see the dirty water tank fill up with filthy water from the dirt that was stuck to your carpet fibres that your regular vacuum cleaner could not get out.
As important is the power of the suction that takes the wet, dirty water out of the carpet and doesn’t leave it on the carpet for any longer than it needs to.
Once you have been over your carpet it will be damp but not soaking wet and will be good to walk on within about 3 hours.
Be aware though that it is not light at 17kg. It’s not meant as a portable appliance but it’s not that heavy that you can’t lift it up the stairs.
Its heavy for a reason though, it’s got high-quality component parts that should ensure it lasts you for many years of consistently strong cleaning performance.
There is nothing plasticky or cheap about it. This is a strong and sturdy product that has been built to last.
A no-nonsense cleaner from a leading brand that has been making great carpet cleaners for decades.
The Rug Doctor deep carpet cleaner is a great example of something simple that does a very good job with very simple to use controls.
Sometimes there are bells and whistles on products that are simply not needed.
This is a plug and go machine with a deep clean function and a button to boost the application of detergent if needed.
A great value for money carpet cleaner from a top brand.
