Ryobi is well known for their range of power tools such as cordless drills and saws as well as a comprehensive range of garden tools like hedge trimmers, lawnmowers and leaf blowers.

They have over 100 products that have been carefully designed to make maintaining your home as easy and practical as possible.

This is a company that specialises in tools that will ensure you can keep your home in shape with the minimum of fuss and the Ryobi pressure washer is a high specification product without the high price to accompany it.

This is a brand you can trust and is already established in the UK with the big DIY chains stocking its range of power tools so you know it’s not some fly by night Chinese company that doesn’t care about product quality.

Ryobi cares about their reputation and it’s important that they provide a good quality pressure washer otherwise it will have a knock-on effect on the rest of their brand.

Features and Benefits

On demand detergent function. With a lot of pressure washer in this price range and higher you do get a separate tank that you can fill with cleaning solution but once the cleaning solution is in then you can’t spray regular water without the detergent unless you use up the cleaning solution first.

With this Ryobi pressure washer you can easily switch between the two and spray water without the cleaning solution by a simple twist of the lance.

So if for example, you are cleaning the car you can fill the detergent tank with soap to clean the car but you can rinse it off first and then switch to the shampoo when you are ready without having to do it all separately.

Lances. The trigger gun clips simply into either of the two lances supplied. The first one is for full power to cut through all of the toughest grime on areas like the patio and to clean the side of the house.

The other lance has various settings to accommodate jobs with more delicate surfaces such as wooden garden furniture or barbeques.

It has one dial that turns to either the on position or the off position with the power being controlled by which lance you are using. It won’t start until you squeeze the trigger and will stop when released so that’s good from a safety perspective as it’s not going to run wild on its own.

120 Bar of pressure. This represents the amount of pressure that the pressure washer is able to produce.

As a general rule, the more expensive the pressure washer the more pressure you can expect it to generate but it’s not always a good idea to get the highest pressure you possibly can and you need to choose a level of pressure according to what you want to use it for.

For example, if you will mainly use it for cleaning the car and clearing out the gutters or washing down the garden furniture a few times a year then the last thing you want is a pressure washer that generates say 160 bar of pressure or more.

Anything that powerful could easily damage the delicate paintwork on a car or the garden furniture so its just not necessary to get anything more powerful than 120 bar if that’s what you are mainly using it for.

But if you are looking to clean a cement driveway that hasn’t been cleaned for 10 years or the side of a house that has also been left for many years then you may need to get something more powerful.

Anything below 100 bar of pressure will probably not be good enough to cut through any ingrained dirt that has set in over years so as a good rule of thumb anything between 110 and 130 bar is going to be the right level of pressure for the vast majority of jobs.

This one is well balanced right in the middle of that range with 120 bar of pressure that delivers 380 litres of water per hour at high pressure.

It has enough pressure to deal with tough jobs like patios and at the same time will work great on the less intensive jobs such as cars and cleaning down the garden and decking.

Strong hose. It has a very strong steel armed hose that is 5 metres in length which is plenty to move in and around the area you are cleaning without having to move the main unit and it has a handle so you can easily retract the hose around a reel without having to manually wrap it around the main unit.

It’s a well built and robust unit but only weighs 7.7kg making it light enough to easily pick up and store and it sits on a set of wheels for easy manoeuvring whilst you are cleaning.

Storage. The lance and wand both have slots to store them together with the main unit so everything is kept together in one place with no risk of misplacing or losing anything.

Here is a short video from Ryobi showing this pressure washer in action:

This is a no-nonsense high-quality pressure washer from a company that knows what they are doing when it comes to tools to keep your home in order.

What we like about it is that it isn’t loaded with a bunch of accessories like a brush for washing the car that you will probably never use and just adds to the cost of the pressure washer.

All of the price that you pay is for a well-built product that is made to last and does the job it is supposed to without any unnecessary added extra’s.

The powerful 120 bar pressure has plenty of power to deal with all jobs for the vast majority of homes and there are multiple different spray options by just twisting the lance if you don’t want to use it on full blast.

This is a great combination of quality and value. At this price it can be classified as a budget power washer but it performs more like one at the mid to top end of the market.
